Types of Menus
A la carte - to order from the menu. meals will be made fresh when the customer orders the food. The customer can make special requests e.g. steak to be cooked rare.
Table d'hote - this is a set menu for a set price. Many venues will offer this if there is a large group dining together. Easier to plan and prepare a limited range of dishes and there will be no queries with the bill.
Function - These menus are used for a function catering for a large group of people. Used for weddings, formals and conferences. The set menu will be arranged before the event.
Cyclic - This type of menu is often used in hospitals, boarding schools and prisons. The menu is set for a 7 day run. The meals are set for each day of the week. Makes it easier for the venue to pre order and pre prepare food for the week.
